Te Puke Mutineers Golden Oldies team was formed in November 2003 by a group of players still wanting to run around with the ball but at a more relaxed pace and with the added bonus of no training runs unless its to the bar.

Our season starts with the opening tournament hosted by the Eastern District Old Devils at Paengaroa with sometimes 18 teams from around the Bay entering.

Over our season we like to play one game a month so our bodies have 3 weeks to get over the last game, also we try and organise at least one overnight bus trip so our partners and anyone else can come and enjoy the social aspects of Golden Oldies Rugby.

Our last game of the season is played against The Old Devils and it is played on a home then away basis.Once rugby is over we switch into cricket mode, with other golden oldies team also having cricket teams so it is never ending.

In 2006 28 players and 3 supporters headed to Wellington for the World Golden Oldies Tournament which was our first tournament.

The next tournament is in Edinburugh in 2008 with 12 of us heading up to it. At the moment we are fundraising to help cut down the cost of going
